An exciting project to bring together those who care passionately about Cornwall as ‘Cornish Ambassadors’ has reached a significant milestone.
The Cornwall Place Board who launched the scheme in their bid to change perceptions of the Duchy have now set an ambitious new target of 20,000 Ambassadors.
Over 1000 Ambassadors have signed up to date via the website: cornwall.uk. The majority are local people but many others live across the UK and abroad, in countries such as Nigeria, Ireland, Japan, China, the United States, Australia, and New Zealand.
Established to promote Cornwall as a great place to live and work, the Place Board highlights and promotes the achievements of the Duchy’s business sectors, while also celebrating Cornwall’s rich heritage and regional distinctiveness.
The board is now aiming for a new target of 20,000 people – a ‘Trelawny’s Army’ that cares passionately about the Duchy and recognise what a special place it is.
James Staughton, Chair of Cornwall Place Board commented:
“We are delighted to welcome 1,000 like-minded souls as Ambassadors who are keen to ‘Champion Cornwall for one and all’. It’s a great start to our ambitious target of 20,000. We welcome anyone to join us – your Duchy needs you!
One of the founding directors, Martin Nixon commented:
“We believe there is still much to do in changing perceptions of Cornwall. From being seen purely as a holiday destination, to a place which is renowned for its breadth of successful business sectors and unrivalled cultural heritage. We hope visitors to cornwall.uk will learn that there’s so much to celebrate in Cornwall.”
